Regulations as of January 2024, SB2, require:
You will no longer be able to qualify with a gun that is not registered to you.
You are permitted to carry only a firearm registered to you, and joint ownership is not allowed.
16 hours of coursework for a new permit, and 8 hours for a renewal permit.
(1) One hour of mental health training is included.
Instructor coaching, with reflection, will involve note-taking and answering choice questions.

Shasta County allows for a permit to be renewed up to (2) two years from your expiration date.
Most other counties such as Tehama, Siskiyou, Modoc, Lassen, etc. allow for permits to be renewed up to (6) six months from your expiration date. The City of Red Bluff allows for (90) ninety days.
Course Certificates and Qualification Forms are valid for (60) sixty days in counties such as Shasta and Tehama.
Some departments allow for longer windows of opportunity.
You will need: Photo ID, CCW Permit, and your firearms to begin your course.
Firearms are required to be cased in the classroom.
You are required to qualify on the range to complete this course.
If you require time to evaluate new serial numbers to be added to your permit a location will be designated by the instructor.
Please have your permit or documents available to transfer information to qualification forms.
You may qualify with up to (5) five handguns, agency permitting.
This course does not require additional fees for handgun qualifications.
Model Description on your qualification form should be “SEMI” or “REV” for types.
Regulations as of January 2019, AB2103, require:
You must demonstrate shooting competency with every firearm you wish to maintain on your permit.
You will need a minimum of (20) twenty rounds per firearm to qualify during the class.
It is advised that you bring a sufficient amount to accomplish this goal.
If more is required, multiple qualification attempts are allowed.
Steel cased and/or armor piercing ammo is not allowed on our range.
Ammunition is available for sale and use at the range.
The sale of ammunition at the range for on-site use does not require a background check.
With the increased demand for our services a need for online reservations has developed. Our cancellation policy is meant to ensure that our classes are available for our loyal students. Your reservations are important as seating is limited for our courses.
Our policy is as follows:
Payment must be received to reserve classes.
Course reservation tickets include a (50%) fifty percent non-refundable deposit.
Cancellations prior to the day or start of the class will be given a (50%) fifty percent refund of training fees, or a one-time reschedule of training within one year.
Students who are absent from any portion of a class without notice will not be eligible for a refund. Reservations are limited for quality of instruction purposes.
