This is a two day course for a total of 16 hours of initial instruction as required by the Bureau of Security and Investigative Services (BSIS) to apply for your INITIAL Exposed Firearms Permit. It is designed to give the security officer an awareness of the legal and moral aspects of the use of firearms while carrying a handgun as a licensed security officer. Qualification is required to carry certain calibers of firearms. This means that you will need to qualify with every caliber that you want to be able to carry as a Security Guard, Private Investigator or Armored Car technician. A duty holster is not required for this class and selection of proper gear will be covered in class.

For more details regarding the application process for this permit, please consult the BSIS website here www.bsis.ca.gov/forms_pubs/fire_fact.shtml

NOTE: As of Jan 1, 2018 it is required that you complete a Sixteen Personality Factor Questionnaire (16pf) that is proctored at this time by PSI Services LLC (PSI). There is a testing facility in Redding, CA and more information regarding this requirement can be found here

www.bsis.ca.gov/firearmsassessment/

It is NOT required that you complete this testing prior to attending class. However, we STRONGLY recommend it.

You will need a minimum of 50 rounds per caliber to qualify during the class. BSIS suggests 100 rounds per caliber.

*****No steel cased or “bi-metal” ammo allowed on our range as it has a steel mix (armor piercing capacity) in the jacketing of the bullet.*****

Both ammunition and firearms are available for sale/ rent at the shop. Sale of ammo at the range for use while you are at the range DOES NOT require a background check like it does at all other retailers. If you have an unusual caliber, we recommend that you call in advance to make sure we have it if you need it.

Cancellation Policy: Training fees include a 50% non-refundable deposit. Cancellations prior to the day/start of the class will be given a 50% refund of training fees, or a one-time reschedule of training within one year. Students who are absent from any portion of a class without notice will not be eligible for a refund. Please contact the range as early as possible to cancel your class.
